This Really works! I was looking for something that would clean the stains left behind from our 14 year old pup. This did not disappoint. After 30 minutes, the stains were gone! I got so excited that I went over the rest of the carpet before going to bed. Got up the next morning and vacuumed. Not sure you should leave it that long, but the carpet looks great and it even feels softer. I’m sold. No need to schedule a professional cleaner.

So impressed! I don’t know what’s in this stuff but it WORKS. I sprinkled it on my area rug and dry-clean-only sofa, brushed it into any stains, left it for 30 minutes and then vacuumed thoroughly. I have kids and cats and my sofa looks almost new. (I’ll add there were no bad stains, just marks from dirty feet and hands and normal wear). I’d stupidly tried to clean them with a damp cloth and had several water stains as a result. This product removed them completely. My sofa and area rug are bright and fresh again.

Lifts most dirt The rug in my granddaughter's room was filthy. Vacuuming alone wasn't doing a great job, but when I used the SaniClean "snow" much more dirt came up when I vacuumed. I'll buy SaniClean again.

It worked I cleaned about a one square foot spot on a Berber carpet left by my dog. Had been there for weeks. One treatment as directed and I can’t even tell where the spot was!

Questions Before You Buy

Honest answers from the team that built SaniCarpet.

  • Does powder actually clean as well as steam or shampoo?

SaniCarpet grew out of a professional carpet cleaning company we founded, where this exact powder formula was used in the field for years before we started selling it directly. So we have a real opinion on this. The short version: for most household cleaning, dry powder cleans better — not worse — because it doesn't push dirt deeper into the padding the way wet methods do.

Wet cleaning works by saturating fibers, then trying to extract the dirty water back out. The catch is that extraction is never 100%. Whatever moisture stays behind wicks dirt back up to the surface within days, which is why “freshly cleaned” carpets often look dingy again within a week.

SaniSnow's particles bind to oils, dirt, and bacteria at the fiber level. When you vacuum, the particles leave with everything they've absorbed. Nothing is pushed deeper. Nothing wicks back up.

For really deep, set-in stains, sometimes a multi-pass treatment is needed — and we're happy to walk you through that if you email us. But for normal cleaning, this works the way most people wish their carpet cleaner worked.

  • What happens to the powder? Does residue stay in my carpet?

Almost none. SaniSnow's particles are designed to grab dirt and lift cleanly out with vacuuming. A small amount of residue is normal and intentional — it acts as a stain repellent, so your next spill is easier to clean. You can't see it, feel it, or smell it.

If you want every last grain out (some people prefer that), a second pass with the vacuum gets you there.

  • Is the alcohol formula safe around my kids and pets?

Yes — but here's exactly how, because “non-toxic” gets thrown around a lot.

The alcohol in SaniSnow is what gives the powder its sanitizing power. It evaporates as the powder works (about 30 minutes), which is why we recommend keeping kids and pets off the treated area during that window. Once you vacuum at the 30-minute mark, the carpet is dry, sanitizer is gone, and the surface is safe to crawl, play, or nap on right away.

This is the part that matters: there are no chemical fumes during treatment, no ventilation requirements, and you don't have to leave the house. Compare that to most professional shampoo or steam services that ask you to stay off the carpets for 6 to 24 hours and air the rooms out.

The formula is organic, biodegradable, and free of the harsh detergents that worry parents and pet owners.

  • How much carpet does one container actually clean?
    • 15 oz tub: about 100 square feet of general cleaning — roughly the size of a small bedroom or a high-traffic hallway and stairs.
    • 2 lb bag: about 200 square feet — a typical living room or two bedrooms.

For spot treatment, you'll get many more uses out of either size. Most customers tell us a 2 lb bag lasts them 3 to 6 months at a normal cleaning rhythm.

  • Why is SaniSnow manufactured in South Africa?

    Two reasons, both worth knowing.

First, the formula was developed in South Africa, and the specialty manufacturing process for the absorbent particle structure exists there. We chose to keep production where the formula was perfected rather than risk changing what works.

Second, one of the key absorbent components is regionally sourced. It's a natural material that performs the way it does because of where and how it's produced. Substituting it would mean a different (and worse) product.

The finished powder ships to Washington State, where we handle the final assembly and packaging in the USA — which is why you'll see “Assembled in the USA, Manufactured in South Africa” on the label. We're transparent about both halves because we'd rather you know.

  • How long does it take, start to finish?

About 35 to 45 minutes for general room cleaning:

    • Sprinkle and brush: 2–3 minutes
    • Let SaniSnow work: 30 minutes (you can do anything else during this — make coffee, fold laundry, the powder does its thing)
    • Vacuum: 2–3 minutes per typical room

Carpets are fully dry and ready to walk on the moment you finish vacuuming. No drying time. No downtime. No staying off the carpet overnight.

Dry Powder vs Steam Cleaning — What's the Real Difference?

We get this question a lot from new customers, so here's the straight comparison from a team that's used both professionally.

SaniSnow Dry Powder Steam / Wet Cleaning
Drying time None — carpet is dry the moment you vacuum 6 to 24 hours
Mold & mildew risk None — no water touches the carpet pad Real risk if padding stays damp
Sanitizes & disinfects Yes — alcohol-based formula kills bacteria Most steam units don't reach disinfecting temperatures
Re-soiling rate Low — no detergent residue to attract dirt High — shampoo residue acts like a dirt magnet
Stain wicking Doesn't happen — no liquid to carry stains back up Common within days of cleaning
Fiber & padding damage None — gentle on wool, silk, and synthetic fibers Heat and saturation can shrink or damage fibers
Equipment needed A brush and your vacuum $300+ machine, or $150–400 per professional visit
Time investment About 35 minutes per room 1–2 hours of cleaning + 6–24 hours of downtime
Cost per use A few dollars per room $40–80 per room professionally, or $30+ in rental + shampoo
Safe around kids & pets Yes — 30 min drying window, then immediately safe Varies — depends on the chemicals used

Bottom line: Steam cleaning has a place — particularly for very large, very dirty commercial carpets where you can afford the downtime and have industrial-grade extraction equipment.

For a home with kids, pets, normal daily wear, and a regular cleaning schedule, dry powder is the better tool. You spend less, your carpets last longer, and you don't lose a day waiting for them to dry.
