This Really works! I was looking for something that would clean the stains left behind from our 14 year old pup. This did not disappoint. After 30 minutes, the stains were gone! I got so excited that I went over the rest of the carpet before going to bed. Got up the next morning and vacuumed. Not sure you should leave it that long, but the carpet looks great and it even feels softer. I’m sold. No need to schedule a professional cleaner.

So impressed! I don’t know what’s in this stuff but it WORKS. I sprinkled it on my area rug and dry-clean-only sofa, brushed it into any stains, left it for 30 minutes and then vacuumed thoroughly. I have kids and cats and my sofa looks almost new. (I’ll add there were no bad stains, just marks from dirty feet and hands and normal wear). I’d stupidly tried to clean them with a damp cloth and had several water stains as a result. This product removed them completely. My sofa and area rug are bright and fresh again.

Lifts most dirt The rug in my granddaughter's room was filthy. Vacuuming alone wasn't doing a great job, but when I used the SaniClean "snow" much more dirt came up when I vacuumed. I'll buy SaniClean again.

Frequently Asked Questions

How SaniCarpet Dry Carpet Cleaning Powder Works

After years of running a professional dry carpet cleaning service in Seattle, I’ve seen firsthand what actually works—and what damages carpets. SaniCarpet’s SaniSnow is an alcohol-based carpet sanitizer powder that’s eco-friendly, baby-safe, pet-friendly, and non-toxic. Best of all, it leaves your carpet dry, clean, and sanitized without harsh chemicals or long drying times.

What’s the secret behind this antibacterial carpet powder?

The process is technically called dry extraction carpet cleaning, and it’s the same professional method we use at SaniClean Dry Carpet Cleaning Services. This waterless carpet cleaning system utilizes millions of little alcohol-based “micro-sponges” to clean the carpet. The sponges are developed and saturated with an organic solvent.

How to use carpet powder effectively?

The micro-sponges are worked into the carpeting with a brush, absorbing contaminants—dirt, stains, sugars, debris, odors, bacteria, and germs. Then all those contaminants are extracted with a vacuum, leaving your carpet clean and dry with no water damage, no mold risk, and no wicking that brings old stains back to the surface.

Unlike wet carpet cleaning methods that can damage your carpet’s fibers and padding, this carpet disinfectant powder works on the surface level where dirt actually accumulates. When you use traditional steam cleaners or liquid carpet shampoos, you’re forcing water and chemicals deep into your carpet padding where they can cause mold, mildew, and permanent fiber damage. Learn why dry carpet cleaning powders are safer than liquid shampoos.

Why Alcohol-Based Carpet Cleaner Powder Is Superior

The most important thing for your carpets is to disinfect and sanitize them—not just make them look clean. Carpets are the biggest filter in your home, trapping dust mites, pet dander, bacteria, allergens, and viruses. This is especially critical during cold and flu season, or if you have young children crawling and playing on your floors. That’s exactly what SaniCarpet’s antibacterial carpet powder does, unlike other carpet cleaning products out there.

Our alcohol-based formula actively kills bacteria and sanitizes your carpet fibers, creating a healthier environment for your family. This pet safe carpet powder is also safe for children, containing no toxic fumes, harsh chemicals, or harmful residues. For families wondering how to sanitize carpets at home, this is the safest, most effective solution available.

How Long to Leave Carpet Powder On

One of the most common questions I hear is: “How long does it take to work?” For general cleaning and carpet sanitizing, allow the powder to sit for 15-30 minutes. This gives the micro-sponges time to absorb dirt, odors, and contaminants. For tough stains or heavy soiling, leave it on for up to an hour.

The beauty of this waterless carpet shampoo? There’s no drying time. The moment you finish vacuuming, your carpet is completely ready to use. Kids can play, pets can roam, and furniture can go back immediately. Compare that to traditional steam cleaning that requires 6-24 hours of drying time and keeps your family off the carpets all day.

Is Carpet Powder Safe for Pets and Children?

Absolutely. This non-toxic carpet powder is 100% safe for both pets and children. Unlike chemical carpet cleaners that leave residues where your kids play and pets walk, our formula is biodegradable and organic. Many pet-friendly carpet cleaner powders claim to be “safe,” but still contain synthetic fragrances and harsh chemicals. SaniCarpet uses natural ingredients that won’t harm your family’s health.

Parents ask me constantly: “Is carpet powder bad for your carpet?” The answer is no—when you use the right kind. Some cheap powders contain ingredients that leave sticky residues or damage fibers. Our powder came out of SaniClean, our professional dry carpet cleaning service in Seattle. It actually extends carpet life by preventing the fiber damage that wet cleaning causes.

What Surfaces Can You Use This Upholstery Cleaner Powder On?

This isn’t just a carpet sanitizer—it’s incredibly versatile:

  • All carpet types (wool, nylon, polyester, berber, frieze)
  • Area rugs (including delicate silk and jute rugs)
  • Upholstery and furniture (sofas, chairs, cushions)
  • Car interiors (seats, carpets, floor mats)
  • Pet beds and fabric accessories

The dry carpet cleaner powder method works on virtually any fabric surface that can be vacuumed. No pre-spray needed, no special equipment required—just sprinkle, brush, and vacuum. Looking for more carpet cleaning methods without a steam cleaner? We’ve got you covered.

Professional Results Without the Professional Price Tag

As a professional carpet cleaner, I can tell you that the same formula we use in clients’ homes is exactly what you’ll receive. Professional carpet cleaning costs $150-$400 per visit. With SaniCarpet’s carpet disinfectant powder, you get professional-grade results for about $20-30 per treatment—and you can do it as often as you need to.
